Tease. WotLK Classic hinted at in official WoW poll!
WoW Classic was unapologetically a huge success for the World of Warcraft developers at Blizzard, and the Classic version of Burning Crusade also hit like gangbusters - though not quite as blatantly as WoW Classic. So for fans of online role-playing games - or should we say "online role-playing games"? - it's as sure as butter on bread and amen in church that Blizzard will release WoW Wrath of the Lich King Classic in the not too distant future. Or ... or not?
The fray of the WoW community
While there used to be one WoW for all players, there are now at least four WoW versions: WoW Classic, WoW Classic Season of Mastery, WoW Classic Burning Crusade, and WoW Shadowlands, the live version. And if you look really closely, there's even a PTR community, but let's not go there.
So there are already several WoW versions, and WotLK Classic would add one more. This inevitably results in a further fragmentation of the community, because hardly any WoW fan plays all versions of the popular online role-playing game with the same intensity. On the other hand, this allows every gamer to find the WoW that appeals to them the most - a freedom that should not be underestimated.
Quo WoWdis, Blizzard?
We are sure that WoW WotLK Classic is coming, after all Wrath of the Lich King is THE expansion par excellence for many veterans and enjoyed enormous popularity. But is Blizzard also sure that WotLK should blossom in its old glory? We can't be 100% sure, at least that's what the official WoW survey tells us, which some WoW players seem to have received.
