WoW: Artist shows the new skybox above the capitals

From Vanilla to Battle for Azeroth, World of Warcraft's graphics improved with each expansion. Thanks to new technology, Blizzard's developers created a vibrant world that still managed to retain its classic charm. This combination of iconic Warcraft elements and modern graphics still attracts countless players to Azeroth today. Still, there are countless details in the fantasy world and beyond that have eluded the development team until now. Sure, while work on Shadowlands is in full swing, graphical adjustments to the "old world" are low on the priority list. Nevertheless, there are plenty of talented WoW fans and artists out there who want to support Blizzard with various projects or even have their own suggestions for improvements to the design of World of Warcraft.

Silverleaf is one of these artists who spends a lot of his free time working on Azeroth. As an avid WoW player, Silverleaf came up with numerous concepts for the traditional armor of the different races and reworked many existing designs of places or heroes. His latest fan project, meanwhile, shows the capital cities from a new perspective. The reworked sky images penned by the artist perfectly complement the surroundings of Orgrimmar, Stormwind, Ironforge and Co.

I was searching for an easy way for Blizzard to improve the old zones and I think I found one: Updating the skyboxes in the old zones could make such a change! #worldofwarcraft pic.twitter.com/moigzPFHQY-

Amazing how well Silverleaf's skyboxes fit the mood of the respective cities and environments, isn't it!!? The skies over Ironforge are very reminiscent of the harsh firmament of Stormpeak in Northrend, while the skyboxes over Silvermoon and Exodar crackle with magic.

Do

you like the revamped versions of the skyboxes over the classic capital cities? And should Blizzard integrate the elaborate fan work into their concepts or even into the game itself?
